Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am delighted to be amongst you tonight for the first Australian gastronomy evening.

I am pleased to support the initiative of the Australia-New Caledonia Alumni Network’s partnership with the Escoffier hospitality school.

I am proud that such an alumni network exists here in New Caledonia, one of our closest neighbours. Not only does it gather together a number of highly qualified and diverse individuals, these New Caledonians have all graduated from Australian institutions.

This event represents an important bond between our respective educational and culinary fields, and is just another example of the strong bilateral relations Australia and New Caledonia enjoy.

I congratulate this initiative, organised by an alumni that have actively contributed to the Australian Consulate General’s events this year, for which I am very grateful.

I am sure their ventures will continue to develop and flourish over time, and attract even more Australian alumni to the network. I am also confident that these activities will continue to reinforce the solid relations between our respective countries.

So, let us begin the evening and enjoy the culinary Australian delights that Escoffier’s students have prepared for us.

Enjoy your evening and bon appétit.
